Dudley for 10 shares worth $100 each. Only 900 shares were offered so there can't be too many of these still around. ONE FOOT TO A SHARE printed at top. Office at San Francisco, California. This would certainly be a highlight of any western mining collection!

1908 MANHATTAN JACKSON MINING COMPANY - Tonopah, Nevada - The mining camp and town of Manhattan were in Nye County, 50 miles north of Tonopah, NV. This western town was established in 1905. Many of the mines in the district were quite rich in milling ore and some contained pockets and veins of pure gold!  According to the Manhattan, NV business directory from 1907 - 1908 the population was 2,000.

The mine was near Cherry Creek, Nevada in White Pine County - Hunter Mining District. This ornate stock certificate has an all-around "Old West" look to it. Corporate seal punched clearly into the lower-left. From the bits and pieces of information I could find online, I am confident this gold mine was in Nevada... but I'm not sure exactly where in Nevada. Issued to C. S. Burgess for 1,000 shares. Signed by Fred J. Chaney as secretary and the presidents' signature appears to be Bert Chaney.   Price - $79.00

1907 THE TALMAGE GOLD MINES COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1905) Under the Laws of the State of Wyoming - This mine was located in the Goldfield Mining District, Nevada. The ore contained gold, silver and lead. The picture is a copy of an actual photograph, showing a very young, May Talmage Hays (printed in the photo). From what I could gather, the Hays family played an important part in the history of Goldfield, Nevada, however, I was unable to locate anything more specific. Feel free to contact me if you have some information to offer. The certificate is signed by C. W. Hays as president and J. R. Young as secretary. The main office was a Goldfield. Quite Rare - I have only seen a few examples from this company over the years.   Price - $295

Owned 90 acres, including the following mining claims: Blondine, Washington, Shamrock, Gladstone and Wisconsin F, all at Rawhide. A nice little picture shows a snow-capped mountain peak and pine trees in the foreground. Signed by Henry C. Merrick as president. Office at Denver, Colorado.   Price - $150

1905 THE BUCKSKIN GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of South Dakota - I did a lot of research on this one and the only thing I can say for sure is that the mines were in Nevada. The Buckskin GMC was owned by the Brewer Mining, Leasing and Investment company of Nevada. You will notice that the certificate was signed by William J. Brewer as president. There was a Buckskin Mine in both Douglas and Humboldt county Nevada. There is a NV ghost town named Buckskin and a Buckskin Mountain and Buckskin Mining District so you can understand my confusion while researching. Three very-detailed vignettes show early placer gold mining. Two uncommon New York stock transfer stamps are affixed to the upper-right corner.   Price - $195

Denver. Vignette shows a group of miners in a shaft and men above hoisting ore to the surface in a wooden bucket. Also notice the flowers to the left of the title.

Located in the Wonder Mining District of Nevada. The town of Wonder, Nevada is now a ghost town. Churchill County. Oval vignette shows what I believe is an early view of Wonder. Also notice the rays of sun shining through the clouds on the left side. Office at Denver, Colorado. Most notable is that it was hand-signed by (Judge) E. A. Colburn as company president. He made his fortune as a mine owner in Cripple Creek, Colorado and is one of the best known men in the Colorado mining industry.   Price - $195
