OLD  WEST  HISTORY  STORE
1899 THE SHERIFF GOLD MINING COMPANY - Cripple Creek, Colorado - Owned the Sheriff Lode, which was 10 acres, on the saddle between Raven and Bull Hill. Ore of paying grade was shipped from nearly every working on the property, but no large continuous chute was found. Issued to and signed by Matt France, who was elected Mayor of Colorado Springs in 1878. From what I could gather from my research, he actually discovered the Sheriff Lode. What a great "Old West" certificate!
Price - $195
1903 THE OLD GOLD MINES COMPANY - Cripple Creek, Colorado - Mines included the Old Gold, Buckeye, and Geneveve on the west slope of Beacon Hill. Signed by James M. Downing as president, who was a prominent Denver attorney.   Price - $42.00

1876 COLORADO MINING & LAND COMPANY - This is a rare Colorado Territory document since it was issued about 5 months before Colorado became a state. Offices at Buffalo, NY. Owned property in the San Juan Mountains, Animas Forks - Mineral Point area of southwestern Colorado. Unique vignette. Overall nice condition with a couple of small tears professionally repaired with archival, acid free tape on reverse. First example I have seen from this company!  Price - $320
1918 THE GOLDEN CYCLE MINING & REDUCTION COMPANY - Cripple Creek, Colorado - Signed by A. E. Carlton as president.
I also have a similar one dated 1915 (same price $59) and a somewhat later example from 1929 (this one is $30).
Price - $59.00
1883 THE GRAPHIC CONSOLIDATED MINING AND MILLING COMPANY - This is actually a scarce bearer bond that promised to pay the owner $100 in 1885. There are 4 coupons attached to the right side (only 2 are shown in the scan). It was a very rich silver mine. A scroll on the left reads: PROPERTY - GRAPHIC ST. JAMES, WINDSOR, CROWN POINT, CROWN POINT TUNNEL, SAVAGE, BELCHER & PRINCTON - MINES LOCATED ON SHEEP MOUNTAIN, ROBINSON, SUMMIT COUNTY, COLORADO. Office at Denver.   Price - $275   SOLD

The ore contained gold, silver, lead and copper.   Price - $72.00
1910 THE CARBONATE KING MINING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of Arizona - Very unique and rare certificate. I have seen only one other company that used this type of printer to make their certificates.  The vignette covers a good portion of the document.  The Carbonate King was in Park County, Colorado, about 2 miles north of Guffey and 20 miles west of Cripple Creek.  It was known as the Guffey Mining District.  The mine followed a 5 foot gold / quartz vein.
Please note: The certificate appears more gold-colored in the scan - the actual color of the ink is brown.   Price - $295   SOLD

189_ THE CRIPPLE CREEK GOLD MILLING COMPANY - Colorado
1898 LA CROSSE GOLD MINING COMPANY of COLORADO - Organized Under the General Law of the State of New York - Beautiful pink certificate! I found a few bits & pieces of information about this early company (some info from Fred Holabird). This mine produced gold & silver averaging 2 to 6 ounces per ton of ore. It was located in Gilpin County, Central City, Black Hawk Mining District, Colorado - at Quartz Hill.  The claim was known as the Burroughs Lode. Certificate issued to the company secretary, Edward T. Wastrell for 100 shares worth $10 each.   Price - $89.00
1901 THE MIDWAY GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1899) Under the Laws of the State of Colorado - This was a Cripple Creek mine. J. R. McKinnie was the president, however, this certificate was signed by the vice president, E. P. Shove. Owned the following claims: Axtel, Climax, Fern, Aeneid and Mosquito, all located on Bull Hill. Office at Colorado Springs.
Price - $65.00

1880 GRAND VIEW MINING COMPANY - State of Colorado - Beautiful, very early Colorado certificate. This is the very first one issued by the company - Stock# 1  Issued to Dumont Clarke for 500 shares worth $100 each. I acquired this certificate with other old stocks that also contained the name Dumont Clarke, originating from Leadville, Colorado, so I assume this was also a Leadville mining operation. Unique oval vignette shows a group of miners using an ore chute to fill ore carts in a tunnel - another miner can be seen swinging a pickax. Printed by the Franklin Bank Note Company, NY. This company worked the Grand View Lode.

I originally had stock #1, #2 & #3 from this company - the only one still available is #3
Price - $450

1907 THE SAN PEDRO GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1902) in Colorado - Issued to James H. Day. OURAY, COLORADO punched into the company seal. San Juan Mountains.
Price - $60.00
1900 THE VILLAGE BELLE GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1899) in Colorado - While researching this one I found one reference that placed this mine at Eldora, Boulder County and another reference said Walden, Larimer County, Colorado. Bright shiny-gold seal.    Price - $85.00   SOLD
189_ THE CRIPPLE CREEK GOLD MILLING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of Colorad0 - This was the mill that processed the gold ore from the Gold and Globe Mine at Cripple Creek. A very-detailed vignette shows the actual mill. The Gold and Globe worked the following claims:  The Gold King on Gold Hill, Iron King, New Moon, Contact and half of the World's Fair placer. The 40 ton stamp mill was apparently located on the placer claim (World's Fair). Two of the original stockholders of the Cripple Creek Gold Milling Company were  J. R. McKinnie and W. H. Gowdy.                  Unissued (1890s)

I found this info in a book titled, THE STORY OF CRIPPLE CREEK - UP TO DATE, Copyright April, 1894

Price - $75.00

1901 THE DEFENDER GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1895) Under the Laws of the State of Colorado - This is certainly a scarce and unique Cripple Creek certificate! The company name and border were printed to look like rope, highlighted with shiny-gold ink.  I believe this is an old water pump where the corporate seal is punched - also printed in gold. A sailboat is shown at top. "CRIPPLE CREEK GOLD DISTRICT" at bottom. Edwin Arkell was the company president. The Defender GMC owned the Broadmore, Mandolin and part of the Defender Claim on Galena Hill. The company also owned the John Hancock, Casco, Puritan and Ashmount lodes on the north side of Copper Mountain.
